About Us

Given China’s recent economic, political, and cultural emergence on the world stage, it becomes imperative for future leaders—whether they become lawyers, politicians, businesspeople, engineers, or academics—to fully understand the new environment and its impact on their field.

Global China Connection (GCC) is the world's largest student organization dedicated to providing the future leaders of China and the international community with a platform to engage each other. A non-profit, non-partisan organization, GCC is represented in over 50 chapters at top universities around the world.  We work directly with top Chinese universities as well as a number of corporate and organizational partners on a variety of projects to provide opportunities for our members to gain international experience and develop an international network.

What We Do

INTERNATIONAL EVENTS
GCC hosts large-scale conferences, panel discussions, and networking events throughout the year. Our two annual conferences—one in Beijing and one in New York—feature leaders from academia, politics, and business, attracting hundreds of students and professionals as well as international media attention. In addition to the ideas and resources shared during these events, attendees further develop their personal networks, form new friendships, expose business opportunities, and increase cultural understanding.

CHAPTER INITIATIVES
GCC chapters organize and manage a variety of projects both in China and around their campuses, ranging from ongoing engagements such as philanthropic activities in Western China and language exchange networks to localized social events, conferences, and cultural events. These activities bring together students and current leaders to work on projects to directly impact the cultivation of the international community. In 2010-11, GCC chapters are planning over 100 such activities, many of which will engage the entire GCC network.

MULTIMEDIA
GCC produces media content contributing to the conversation of China’s future, particularly in regards to how this will affect the lives of the young leaders who will be faced with such issues. Students are empowered through the GCC network to publish articles, audio interviews, and video material that share knowledge and experiences with the network as well as the rest of the world. Likewise, the content and resources from media partners complements the work of our members. This content is featured on the GCC website, social media platforms, and GCC Insights, our monthly publication and newsletter.

DELEGATIONS
Delegations help our members build relationships not only with their student peers around the globe but also some of the most prominent organizations and companies in the world. GCC organizes two types of delegations: from China to the U.S., and from the U.S. to China. Delegations from China to the U.S. enable Chinese students to experience student life in the U.S., and offer an opportunity for Western students to meet their peers from China. Delegations in the other direction help cement our ties with critical partners in the private sector and the non-profit community. Participation in delegations is competitive.

Organizational Structure

CENTRAL MANAGEMENT

GCC Central Management directs the operations of the entire organization. GCC's Executive Board, Board of Directors (which supervises GCC's finances, event planning, outreach to other organizations and companies), and their respective teams compose Central Managment. Central also oversees the expansion and development of GCC's chapter network. Several universities are represented within the Central team.

CHAPTER NETWORK

GCC operates campus chapters at over 50 universities around the world, in locales as far and wide as the U.S., Britain, France, Germany, New Zealand, and Singapore. These chapters are dynamic components of campus life, enabling students to learn more about China and enabling them to interact with peers who share similar interests. Chapters contribute a great deal to their surrounding communities, working with local businesses and non-profit organizations.

TRUSTEES

A select group of former GCC members who continue to support the organization after they graduate from college are invited to become trustees. GCC's day-to-day activities are overseen by the Board of Directors, who are in turn chosen by the Trustees. A Chairman is elected to supervise the Board of Trustees.
