All our positions are considered on a part-time and unpaid basis, open to students as well as young professionals. This will be a serious commitment, but you will have the rare opportunity to manage an international non-profit and meet young leaders and senior professionals around the world through representing GCC.

We consider all applicants without regard to gender, race, nationality, or geographic location. The 2016-17 team will begin the term in July 2016. Recruiting for associate positions in each department (5-10hrs/week) will begin once the leadership positions are filled.

President (25-35hr/week)

Description:
The President of Global China Connection oversees the entire non-profit organization’s effort to connects students worldwide who are engaged with China’s emergence in the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide inspirational, visionary and strategic leadership for GCC.
  • Direct the organization's short and long term goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the university chapters, ensuring their success while being consistent with GCC’s mission and value.
  • Support and lead the Central Management team.
  • Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationships with other partners for the best interest of GCC.
  • Oversee the Annual Summit.
  • Report to the Board of Trustees on a monthly basis.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate upperclassman, graduate student, or young professional.
  • Previous experience with GCC Central Management or Chapter management is required.
  • Passion for the cultural exchange between China and the world.
  • Exceptional communication in English, Mandarin is an asset.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in team leadership and project management.

VP of Network (15-25hr/week)

Description:

The Vice President of Network is responsible for coordinating GCC's worldwide chapters and helping our members take advantage of the platform and build meaningful relationships. This position is also responsible for auditing the chapters, and overseeing the new chapter admission process.

Responsibilities

  • Be present at the weekly Officers’ meetings
  • Lead weekly Network divisional meetings to recap on division activities and events and execute new initiatives
  • Oversee new chapter recruitment process; reach out to new universities regarding chapter establishment
  • Oversee a team of associates dedicated to the various aspects of managing our chapters’ needs, including organizing regional networking events.
  • Conduct an annual census of GCC chapters and membership.
  • Maintain regular contact with Chapter Presidents and address their concerns or relay them to the rest of Central Management
  • Maintain a database/calendar of Chapter events and coordinate with the Director of Marketing and Director of Technology to publicize them; Coordinate to prevent event dates from clashing
  • Coordinate with the VP of Development and Director of Marketing to focus on Chapter expansion, including:
  • Identify areas or schools where GCC does not have a significant presence and reach out to potential candidates
  • Coordinate with the Senior Vice President to identify a suitable chapter to hold the GCC World Fair and oversee the conference
  • Oversee the transition period and onboarding for all new positions at the end of the year
  • Recruit throughout the year for leadership positions

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate upperclassman, graduate student, or young professional preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of GCC’s mission and vision and the ability to organize and execute projects that reflect GCC values.

  • Strong communication and writing skills.

  • Willingness and flexibility to visit different GCC chapters preferred.

  • Previous experience at the GCC chapter level or GCC Central Management is preferred.

  • Previous leadership experience at organizations that demonstrates the ability to manage a team and produce concrete results.

  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese preferred but not required.

VP of Development (15-25hr/week)

Description:

The Vice President of Development is responsible for managing GCC's relationship with our corporate sponsors and non-profit partners, fundraising for new projects and initiatives, and assisting the President in managing high level external engagements. 

Responsibilities

  • Be present at the weekly Officers’ meetings

  • Lead weekly Development divisional meetings

  • Advise the President on which companies and organizations to strategically reach out to. 

  • Manage existing partnerships and relationships and follow-up to ensure their continued success.

  • Advise the President and Trustees on the long-term developmental goals and strategies for GCC.

  • Establish points of contact in terms of development.

  • Coordinate with the Director of Network to scope out ongoing GCC meetings and events for potential candidates for outreach.

  • Coordinate with the Director of Network to contact chapters for the hosting of the GCC Annual Conference.

  • Collaborate with Director of Legal and Accounting to work out logistics of donations and sponsorship. 

  • Make initial points of contact with politicians, fortune 500 CEO’s, world leaders for the President to then follow up on.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate upperclassman, graduate student, or young professional preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of GCC’s mission and vision and the ability to organize and execute projects that reflect GCC values.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills.

  • Great networker with past experience in collaborating with corporate sponsors and non-profit partners.

  • Previous experience at the GCC chapter level or GCC Central Management is preferred.

  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese preferred but not required.

VP of Operations and Finance (15-25hr/week)

Description:

The Vice President of Operations and Finance is our chief operations officer, playing the crucial role of ensuring that GCC operates smoothly, coordinating communication between Central Management and our Senior Advisors and Trustees, identifying and promoting talent, and managing our financial obligations as a 501c)3 non-profit.

Responsibilities

  • Be present at the weekly Officers’ meetings.
  • Be present at Trustees’ meetings as scheduled.
  • Identify outstanding talent in the GCC network and manage the annual leadership turnover recruitment and interview process.
  • Manage GCC's internal files, for instance, the collection and management of event photographs.
  • Provide Team with updates on both the short-term and long-term financial status and growth of GCC.
  • Coordinate with the VP of Development to identify corporations and potential partners for outreach and sponsorship.
  • Oversee the process of donations, funding, and sponsorship, coordinating with Development, and Marketing.
  • Process checks deposited into Management from Chapters and outside sponsors.
  • Manage the bank account for GCC Management; provide bank balance updates to Officers and Trustees monthly; manage the financial statements for the fiscal year.
  • Submit payments for Website, GCC Connect, Mad Mimi or other resources Management opts to utilize.
  • Handle reimbursements for Management members for various events and occasions.
  • Provide budgeting advice to various GCC projects that require financial support.
  • File the annual report to the IRS.
  • Take meeting minutes for all Officers’ meetings and Trustees’ meetings.
  • Set up web conferencing links for Officers’ meetings, Trustees’ meetings, and possible divisional meetings, and send invitations to respective meeting attendees prior to the meetings.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate upperclassman, graduate student, or young professional preferred.
  • Past experience in an operational role.

  • Superior management skills with the ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with peers.

  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, and results oriented.

  • Accounting knowledge or experience is preferred.

  • Previous experience at the GCC chapter level or GCC Central Management is preferred.

  • Fluency in English.

Director of Marketing (10-15hr/week)

Description:

The Director of Marketing manages GCC's public image, including our English and Chinese social media platforms which each have tens of thousands of followers, coordinating interviews and reporting with media, and producing marketing material to expand GCC's message and reach around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Be present at the weekly Officers’ meetings.
  • Lead weekly Marketing divisional meetings.
  • Oversee internal and external communications functions and builds awareness of foundation focus areas.
  • Coordinate with the VP of Development to craft our external messaging and outreach posturing.
  • Moderate the following GCC social media platforms: Facebook, Linkedin, Wechat, Weibo etc.
  • Populate the GCC YouTube Channel.
  • Start a Twitter account, Weibo account, and other social media accounts to increase GCC’s presence.
  • Seek out ways for GCC to get major media attention (NY Times, Wall Street Journal, etc.)
  • Add weekly spotlights on chapters on goings, activities, and events to the Facebook, LinkedIn and other relevant social media sites.
  • Expand GCC’s media presence to other relevant social media platforms.
  • Keep records of all of GCC’s external marketing attention.
  • Compile all past marketing materials into a central location to draw upon in the future.
  • Draw up a monthly newsletter for the GCC community.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate students preferred.

  • Stellar communications and writing skills a must.

  • Cooperative, creative, eloquent, and organized.

  • Past experience in marketing roles, public relations, or managing marketing campaigns.

  • Previous experience at the GCC chapter level or GCC Central Management is preferred.

  • This position requires fluency in both English and Chinese.

Director of Technology (10-15hr/week)

Description:

The Director of Technology is responsible for identifying new technological tools to improve GCC's operations and make us more efficient, creating live broadcast of GCC events for our members, and executing certain technical elements in agreed strategic partnerships. The position is also responsible for managing the GCC website.

Responsibilities

  • Be present at the weekly Officers’ meetings.
  • Lead weekly Technology divisional meetings.
  • Aid all divisions in their technology and social media inquiries, and offer support to network chapters where appropriate.
  • Continue updating and developing our main WordPress based website.
  • Develop new sites and pages on demand (Alumni site, conference sites, etc).
  • Research and implement new technologies.
  • Seek out ways for GCC to stay well connected virtually as this type of communication is pivotal to the functioning of GCC’s management team.
  • Aid in finding the most streamlined, aesthetically pleasing platforms to send out monthly newsletters to members.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate students preferred.

  • Past experience with website and multimedia design.

  • Interest in technology and innovation, applications, and other technological solutions to enhance GCC's events and operations. Reasonable IT skills.

  • Previous experience at the GCC chapter level or GCC Central Management is preferred.

Director of Alumni Affairs (10-15hr/week)

Description:

The Director of Alumni Affairs organizes and keeps track of our growing body of GCC alumni, including our alumni associations around the world, keeps them engaged with the GCC network, and connect them to current GCC members. The position runs our alumni mentorship program.

Responsibilities

  • Be present at the weekly Officers’ meetings.
  • Lead weekly Alumni Affairs divisional meetings.
  • Maintain the Alumni Database and mailing list.
  • Coordinate with the President and VP of Networks to set up a talent network and mentorship program to connect alumni with current GCC members.
  • Support chapters in setting up their own alumni databases and cultivating healthy connectionswith their graduates.
  • Organize regular alumni events and maintain regular contact.
  • Set up a continued learning program where Alumni can continue to learn and benefit from GCC.
  • Connect with Alumni to invite them to events, ask them to be speakers.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate students preferred.

  • Strong mentoring experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise.

  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive.

  • Exceptional oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

  • Previous experience at the GCC chapter level or GCC Central Management is preferred.
