The GCC Network

The Global China Connection Network consists of over 50 chapters across 4 continents at top global universities. Our platform offers students all over the world, opportunities to interact in social and professional settings, while simultaneously impacting each other’s communities positively. GCC has evolved into a source of inspiration for the emerging leaders of today and tomorrow, building channels for cultural exchange and greater mutual understanding.

Each individual chapter is responsible for organizing her own activities and initiatives. Central Management ultimately serves as a resource that connects members of our network with various resources for promoting their interpretation of GCC.

Network Infrastructure

  •  GCC Central Management - Headquartered in New York City, GCC-Central sets the direction for GCC programs and coordinates activities between regions.
    • GCC Network Management Division (NMD) - The NMD is the managerial branch of the GCC chapter network, and focuses primarily on managing and maintaining activity within each chapter.
    • GCC Network Expansion Division (NED) - The NED is the managerial branch of the GCC chapter network, and focuses primarily on expanding the network and developing new chapters.

Network Management

Network Management helps provide chapters with organizational advice. Chapter advisers are in constant contact with GCC chapters. District Council meetings are held monthly within the six GCC network geographic zones: North-East I, North-East II, Mid-West, South-East, West Coast, and Canada/International. Each chapter president must submit a formal monthly report to NMD.

Network Expansion

Network Expansion focuses on the development of our network by providing student leaders from around the world the opportunity to start a chapter in their respective schools. This opportunity imparts a platform for like-minded people to cultivate their interest for China. Network Expansion initiates contacts with prospective chapter presidents and then conducts a vigorous process of screening and interviewing. Once approved, the chapter president enters a trial period and his or her establishment is considered an associate chapter. As soon as the chapter passes the trial period and fulfills the necessary requirements, it will be eligible to apply for full chapter status and be handed over to Network Management.

Levels of Involvement

  •  GCC Chapter - Each GCC chapter functions as an autonomous entity, but performs duties consistent with GCC's founding principles and goals. Chapters can host activities including panels, seminars, conferences, networking gatherings, retreats, and cultural events. Each GCC chapter will be assigned an NMD advisor who oversees the chapter's operations.
  • GCC Associate - Associates are defined as chapter executive board members.
  • GCC Member - Membership in Global China Connection is open to alll current university students attending an institution with a recognized GCC chapter.
