Paul Haenle hosts new China focused podcast

The Carnegie-Tsinghua Center (CTC) has launched a new weekly podcast called ‘China in the World’ that will feature exclusive conversations between CTC’s director, Paul Haenle, and a variety of Chinese and international experts on China’s foreign policy and China’s role in the world.

Background to Business in China – GCC Laurier

This event will focus on the 7 developing industries in China: energy conservation and environment protection, new information technology, biology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, new energy and new energy cars.
It will be held November 4-8, 2013 at Wilfrid Laurier University.

GCC Tufts & China-US Symposium Joint Fall Forum

China-US Symposium and GCC Tufts will together host an academic forum focused on the topics of international environmental and energy challenges. A panel of guest speakers will deliver different topics to create a multi-perspective dialogue between faculty and students.
The event will take place November 6th, 2013 at Tufts University.

Five universities currently on chapter trial period

After passing the interview portion of the application stage, the founders must complete a series of requirements laid out by the Expansion Division to become an official Global China Connection chapter.
Currently, there are five chapters are in the trial phase period. They are:

Queen’s U chapter hosts inaugural conference

The conference’s theme of “Abroaden Your Skills in Asia” will introduce students to the business landscape in Asia, giving them a new global lens and an inspiration to work abroad.

Partnership with Zoomdojo

GCC-Columbia and Zoomdojo co-hosted a student delegation from Tsinghua University in New York between August 5 and August 9th, 2013. The delegation consisted of leaders from the Tsinghua University Student Union as well as other representatives. 
GCC-Columbia and Zoomdojo co-organized a welcome breakfast at the Harvard Club at New York, including representatives from MasterCard, Bloomberg and Standard & Poor’s.

NYU to host inaugural East Coast GCC gathering

GCC Chapter at New York University will be hosting the first GGC-only gathering for board members from the more than 40 chapters from all over the east coast. The event will take place on October 1st 2013 r4r4.

GCC Plans Expansion into New Markets

This year, GCC will take strides to expand its network into regions of the world where there are currently no chapters. Omega Tennant, the Director of Expansion, has mobilized a team to reach out to individuals and universities in Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe. Josie Fan, the Director of Network, along with her team of associates, are also working to strengthen the current GCC network around the world, and enhance interaction between all chapters.

GCC chapter at Harvard will be hosting their annual conference on September 15-16th. The title chosen is: “The next China: impending geo-political issues”. Reservations will open soon.

2013 China Summit

GCC Beijing Committee announced today that the 2013 China Summit will take place at the Yingjie Center located at Peking University on July 6-7th. The title of the 2-day conference will be: “China and its Youth: dynamics of a transformation”.
