William Lee- Associate of Development and Outreach

William Lee

Associate of Development and Outreach

William is currently a freshman at Yale-NUS College in Singapore and he plans to major in Mathematics, Computational, and Statistical Sciences. Prior to attending college at Singapore, William served in the Singapore Armed Forces and studied at the International School of Beijing. His experiences and deep ties with China lead him to contribute to the growth of his local chapter and ultimately becoming an associate in the Global Team. He hopes to utilize his international experience to establish meaningful relationships with the people he engages with.

Besides his time at GCC, William has developed a keen interest in green technology and conducted research in the realm of renewables in his high school. He is currently a part of his college’s admissions team working as a student associate conducting tours and outreach for prospective students, foreign school officials, and donors. He is also a member of his college’s student investment group and volleyball team. In his free time, he enjoys playing music and participating in performing arts.

Haodi Shi- Associate of Development and Outreach

Haodi H. Shi is a current student at The University of Chicago interested in Economics, Applied Math and Philosophy. In the past few years Haodi was involved with various entrepreneurship initiatives including being the founder of one the largest social entrepreneurship incubators/accelerators for teenagers—the Radicle Lab, as well as work experience with on-campus incubators in universities like MIT and Northwestern.

Haodi has previous research experience in economics & public policy with think tank scientists; as well as internship experience in business/industry research. He has interned for a Chinese private chamber of commerce and a business/economic-reform focused think tank. He has a deep passion in finance, renewable energy and the automotive industry.

GCC’s mission strongly resonates with what Haodi believes, he wants to help develop deep and trusting personal connections between young leaders from China and those from the rest of the world.

Alice Li- Associate of Development and Outreach

Alice is a junior at the College of William and Mary majoring in International Relations and minoring in Business Analytics. In fall 2020, she founded a GCC chapter at William and Mary and is currently serving as chapter president. Prior to joining GCC, Alice held research-based internship positions at the Center for China and Globalization, China Global Television Network, and Global Mobility of Talent Research Group with Dr. Martin Geiger. She is currently serving as editor and event coordinator at the Onero Institute, a youth-driven, nonprofit research organization.

GCC’s mission strongly resonates with what Alice believes, and she is eager to promote mutual trust and understanding as an IR scholar. In her free time, Alice enjoys traveling, listening to classical music, and cuddling with her dog.

Katherine Liu - Associate of Development and Outreach

Katherine Liu is a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University studying Economics and International Studies. Since joining GCC as a freshman, she has been actively pursued her passion in Sino-US relations. Starting from 2019, she serves as the Vice President of Marketing at the Johns Hopkins chapter. Some of Katherine’s favorite things include road trips, music, and making boba tea.

Philip Chen- Associate of Network

Phil is currently a junior at Baruch College, the City University of New York, where he was accepted into the Macaulay Honors College program on a full scholarship. There, he is majoring in Finance with a minor in Political Science where he was formerly a Hertog Scholar studying classics, western literature and political theory. Phil attended high school in Long Island in New York where he received the Excellence in College Accounting award and Most-Improved in English prior to attending Macaulay.

At Baruch, he is currently the Co-Founder of Baruch Business Brigades, a business chapter of the established organization, Global Brigades. There, he is also Chairman of Global Brigades at Baruch, the largest student led movement for global health and sustainable development where the organization seeks to empower and revitalize developing countries ranging from Ghana, in Africa, to Panama, in Latin America. Phil has also volunteered and studied abroad in China as a Summer English teacher. He hopes to build bridges through his startup project called "FeiBulls," connecting the continent of Africa to the East and the West. He is passionate about the intersection of finance, global affairs and international development.

Phil has lived in New York all his life and was born in the US. In his spare time, he enjoys playing pickup basketball, lacrosse, chess and reading.

Elis Huang-Associate of Network

Elis is currently a sophomore at Drexel University majoring in Accounting and Finance as well as minoring in Business Consulting and Computer Science. She joined GCC Drexel University Chapter in her freshman year during the winter term and was the finance committee at Drexel’s GCC Summit. Drexel’s GCC gave her opportunities to learn and connect with professional leaders from the United States and China and foster friendships in different GCC chapters which made her realize the importance of building a stronger relationship between the two countries. 

Elis has worked in a variety of industries ranging from the business field to the medical field and have gained a diverse skillset in workplaces. In addition to GCC, Elis is also part of many organizations at Drexel University such as Ascend, SASE, The Accounting Society, Women in Business, and Women in Computing Society. She is always striving to learn, understand, and improve what she can do better for the future. 

During her free time, she enjoys playing chess, learning new things and languages, reading, and catching up with her favorite anime, One Piece.

Dylan Kassin - Associate of  Alumni Engagement

Dylan Kassin is an incoming Freshman at the Eliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University. Dylan plans on majoring in International Affairs with a Middle East Concentration. He interned at Congressman Eliot Engel’s office and participated in the Seeds of Peace program learning about and expanding his interest in the field. Dylan has been passionate about social responsibility and community service; he volunteered and was later appointed Co-Chair to the PASNY Food Pantry and has been a long-time volunteer at both Project Ezra and UJA in New York City. Dylan is very excited to join the GCC Team and the opportunities GCC poses in bringing social responsibility, business, and international politics together in order to make a tangible difference.

Yvonne is currently a junior at Boston University working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Computer Science. Born and raised in Chongqing, China, she studies abroad to challenge herself and broaden her worldview.She likes to make friends from all over the world and chat to people with different backgrounds. This motivates her to join GCC global team to meet more people and help promote relationship between China and other countries.

During her time in GCC global team, she is responsible for alumni network expansion such as gathering alumni data, reaching out to alumni, and supporting alumni network events. She also works on Alumni Feature Series project, which features GCC alumni through online interviews and aiming to help students bridge the gap between their academic studies and future professional development.

During her free time, she’d like to do various sports, travel to different places, and play piano.

She manages to do business and technology related job after graduation.

Alex is a recent graduate of the Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence program from Queen's University in Canada. He was involved with GCC from 2011 to 2013, and is now back to help serve as a conduit between current chapters, management, and GCC's constantly growing alumni base.

Alex works in technology private equity, startup & growth advisory, and gives back to Queen's University in his spare time.

Yingying is currently a junior at New York University, majoring in Economics and minoring in business and data science. After coming to the States for college, Yingying has always been exposed to the friendly and diverse culture of NYU, enabling her to make a lot of friends coming from different countries and with different backgrounds. The diversity and inclusiveness of American further fostered her cultural awareness and encouraged her to build a more connected bridge between China and the United States.

Yingying joined GCC this year as a new marketing associate, but she had lots of marketing experiences during her previous club activities at school and her work experiences. She worked as digital marketing interns at several startups in the US before, and this really enabled her to develop entrepreneurial spirits and practice professional digital marketing skills. She is always focusing on delivering the brand image and the correct message, as well as developing achievable strategies. She hopes to use her experiences and passion to help GCC take a step further and reach a larger audience.

In her free time, Yingying loves to walk around the new york city and discover good food. She also loves taking photos, and travelling as well.

Jane Yucheng Zhang- Associate of Marketing

Jane is a junior at New York University, pursuing a joint major in Math and Computer Science, and her interest lies in technology, finance, philosophy and US-China relations. She studied high school in Beijing, and during her high-school years, she volunteered as a computer science teacher at a non-profit organization, teaching underprivileged primary school students how to code. In this role, she is amazed by the idea that a network of support can actually empower an individual, expand their vision, and discover their potential altogether.

She joined GCC in 2020 as a marketing associate. Previous to this role, she worked as a marketing intern at a startup to help develop advertising strategy and improve in-app experience for the company. She also worked in another tech company as a digital marketing intern focusing primarily on attracting more users by creating digital content.

In addition to GCC, she is a co-founder of an education company aiming to educate college students on essential workplace knowledge and useful technical skills to help them further their career. 

Becky Liwen Bian - Associate of Marketing

Becky is currently a sophomore at NYU, intending to take the joint major of Economics and Mathematics, with a minor in data science. Starting from high school, she became interested in international issues and passionate about the relationship between China and the US. Desiring to bring impacts on the relationship between two countries through efforts, she sought for ways to alleviate misunderstandings resulted from cultural differences. Becky joined GCC global team this year as a marketing associate, aiming to help promote the mission of GCC and enlarge its influence among more young future leaders around the globe.

Outside of GCC, Becky had the opportunity to intern in the financial leasing industry and banking area. In addition, she served as a volunteer teaching Economics during the summer camp for elementary school kids, working as a writer for official accounts to share useful information and tips for students. During her spare time, she enjoys dancing with K-pop music, swimming, and travelling.

Chenzhuo Li– Associate of Technology

Chenzhuo Li is a senior at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland majoring in Economics and Applied Math $ Statistics. Just like Ze, Chenzhuo is born and raised in Hainan, China prior to attending college. His Chinese background and educational experiences in the United States made him realize various differences between the two nations as well as the importance of bridging mutual understanding of the two people. He joined GCC the spring semester of his sophomore year for the unique platforms it provides for constructive exchanges of China-US related topics. In his spare time, he is a motion picture critic and commentator on humanities.

Sisi Chen– Associate of Technology

Sisi is currently a sophomore at Stony Brook University, double majoring in applied mathematics and technological system management. She is passionate about website design and working towards being a user experience designer. She joined GCC Global team and served as a technology associate this year, helping GCC transit from in-person to online at this particular time and hope to promote GCC’s global impact. 

In addition to GCC, Sisi is also involved in volunteering. She used to do volunteer work in Nepal and Guizhou, China. The experience reminded her of the cultural difference and the imperfection of the education system in these underdeveloped regions which stimulate her to continue doing the volunteer work. She hopes to help children to acquire knowledge beyond their horizon. 

Jinhan Luo– Associate of Technology

Jinhan is currently a Sophomore at New York University in New York, NY, majoring in Math and Economics. She is born and raised in Beijing, China has been fencing for seven years.
